Super breathalyser on the way

A new road-side breathalyser that provides results accurate enough to convict drink-drivers is set to be introduced next year. The Home Office is currently looking for a company to produce the breath tester which is accurate enough to act as evidence, unlike the devices currently in use which are only suitable for screening purposes.

Full prisons mean killer driver goes free

A driver who caused the death of Matthew Bailey escaped a jail sentence because of overcrowded prisons. Judge Charles Kemp at Lewes Crown Court gave 59 year-old Malcolm Legrys a one year sentence suspended for two years, 200 hours of unpaid work and a 12 month driving ban, rather than imprisonment as recommended by Sentencing Advisory Panel for the crime of death by dangerous driving.
