'Admin oversight' grounds Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance halting lifesaving missions

An ‘administrative oversight’ has left Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance (LNAA) temporarily grounded and unable to carry out lifesaving services.

LLAA covers a 3500-mile area is funded entirely by public donations, at a cost of £13 million annually.

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) stood down the organisation on January 31, after it failed to meet the deadline for a drugs licence renewal – rendering it unable to store controlled substances or administer them to patients.

The charity commented: “We are in discussion with EMAS at the highest level to find a resolution as soon as possible.”

Reports suggest that the Home Office have now received the necessary paperwork to process the renewal.

Surrounding services, including the Yorkshire and Magpas Air Ambulance services remain active and available to assist with casualty extraction to nearby hospitals.
