Yamaha are marking 25 years of the iconic R1 superbike in 2023 with a weekend of high-octane action at Mugello Circuit in Italy.

Taking place on July 21-22 at the Tuscany venue, the celebrations come as part of this year’s Yamaha Racing Experience (YRE), an exclusive event previously only available to buyers of Yamaha’s top-spec R1M, but which has now been opened up to owners of standard R1s for the first time.

“The R1 has been a game-changer in the world of motorcycles, pushing the boundaries of performance and innovation and constantly evolving to be at the pinnacle of the racing world,” Marketing and Motorsport Director at Yamaha Europe, Paolo Pavesio said.

“It is a bike that has redefined what is possible during the last 25 years with technology and innovations derived directly from MotoGP and WSB,” he continued.

“The Yamaha Racing Experience at Mugello will be something special this year, the perfect opportunity to salute such an iconic machine together with our customers and some of Yamaha’s biggest stars.”

With the original R1 launched back in 1998, this year’s exclusive festivities will allow for 25 owners of the current standard superbike to attend – with track sessions available on both days, as well as Yamaha racing technicians on hand to help set your bike up for the challenging 3.3-mile Mugello course.

Other highlights of the event include a tour of the Pata Yamaha World Superbike pitbox and the chance to ride on track with the current crop of Yamaha racing stars.

This will include WSB’s Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, Andrea Locatelli, Remy Gardner, Dominique Aegerter, Lorenzo Baldassarri, Bradley Ray, and WEC star Niccolò Canepa.
