Pumping good prizes: Three lucky MCN readers win Triumph Moto2 race pistons

MCN Competition

The winners of MCN’s recent competition to bag a conrod and piston used in a podium-finishing Triumph Moto2 engine have been chosen – and the prizes delivered.

Three lucky bikers won the prizes, which came from bikes raced by Sam Lowes to the win in the Doha GP at Lusail International Circuit on April 4, 2021; Remy Gardner’s race-winning bike from the Italia GP in Mugello on May 30, 2021; and Marco Bezzecchi’s second place finishing race bike used at the Spanish GP in Jerez on May 2, 2021.

“It was really amazing when I won it,” Bedfordshire Harley rider, David Taylor told MCN. “It was just a bit of fun. When I received the news, I couldn’t believe it.”

Each of the three components was delivered in a presentation box, with a certificate of authenticity from Triumph. Rather than being cleaned up to an as-new finish, they are exactly as they were when taken from the engines, complete with combustion residue still clinging to the piston face.

“It was something that was completely different,” added fellow winner Mark Harding, from Kent. “When you normally see prizes it’s something like a helmet, but this was completely different. I was quite amazed, actually. I’m not the luckiest of people when it comes to competitions.”

Since the start of the 2019 season, Triumph have provided all Moto2 teams with race-tuned 765cc triples, based on the Street Triple RS engine. They continue to do so into 2023.
