WSB: Management shake up ahead of 2019 season

1 of 1

There has been a change to the management structure of the World Superbike side of Dorna ahead of the 2019 season.

Dani Carrera, formerly the WorldSBK Executive Director, is no longer part of the championship as he takes up a new role within the Dorna Group.

Carrera’s old job has been split into two. Gregorio Lavilla’s role increases as the former BSB Champion takes up the title of Executive Director of Sporting & Organization, while the responsibilities of fellow Spaniard Marc Saurina also become greater as he is now the Executive Director of Marketing & Commercial.

MotoGP owners Dorna have held the commercial rights to the Superbike World Championship since 2013, when the Spanish company took over from Italian group Infront. From an operational point of view, Dorna’s main base is in Barcelona while much of the administrative side of WorldSBK runs through its Rome offices.

The 2019 season begins in Australia on the weekend of 23-24th February.
