WSB: Rea: 'The best is yet to come'

Jonathan Rea has said he believes ‘the best is yet to come’ despite having just clinched a record-equally fourth World Championship in Magny Cours.

The Kawasaki rider has been unbeaten since 2015 and today equalled Carl Fogarty’s championship record with his 67th career win.

Rea continues with the factory Kawasaki squad for both the 2019 and 2020 seasons, which will see him vie to further etch himself into the record books with a fifth world crown.

“I have no words,” Rea said in parc ferme. “I wanted to make the race mine from the start and that’s what we did. We worked hard on our pace this weekend. Fair play to Tom for that lap in Superpole, it was incredible!

“I’m just a kid from Northern Ireland who had a dream and never stopped believing in myself and I finally got here. There have been ups and downs along the way, but it has been an incredible journey and I feel the best is yet to come. I’m living the dream.”
