WSB: Davies looking to gain momentum ahead of summer break

Chaz Davies heads into Ducati’s second home round of the 2018 Superbike World Championship hoping for positive results after disaster struck on the final lap at the Misano circuit last year.

After regaining trust with his Panigale in the previous round at Laguna Seca, Davies is keen to continue improving this weekend in order to go into the summer break with some momentum.

Feeling confident ahead of the weekend, the Welshman is hoping he can use the ‘home round’ factor to his advantage.

Last year a dramatic end to the opening race at Misano saw Davies ruled out of action for the remainder of the weekend with a fractured L3 vertebra after falling on the final lap leaving rival Jonathan Rea with no option but to run him over.

Hoping for better fortunes this year, Davies is keen to return to the top step in Italy having missed out at Imola in May.

“After a solid weekend at Laguna Seca, we’re keen to get back in action at Misano,” he said. “I enjoy the track and its atmosphere, since it’s full of passionate Ducati fans, and I think our past results there have yet to reflect our speed despite the fact that it probably isn’t the best track for us.”

“It’s going to be a hot weekend, and tyre management will be crucial. It’s also important to go into the summer break with good results and good momentum, so hopefully we’ll use the home factor to our advantage.”
