WSB: Davies hoping power boost will see Ducati in the mix in Thailand
Ducati’s Chaz Davies is hoping the boost in power his team have found with the Panigale R will give him what he needs to fight at the front in Thailand this weekend.
In previous years Davies has struggled at the Buriram circuit, but is confident the advances they made with the bike last summer will help eradicate the issues they’ve suffered at the stop-start track for the last two years.
The Welshman heads into the second round of the 2017 Superbike World Championship just ten points behind rival Jonathan Rea after two second places at Phillip Island two weeks’ ago.

“We started the year well and I can’t wait to get back on track,” he said. “In retrospect, I don’t think we’ve ever really been in the ballpark with the setting in Thailand and, knowing what we know, we understand better how to stay within our window. I’m quite excited to try the 2017-spec Panigale R there, as I think the long straights are going to be less of a problem because we made some improvements in terms of power. The track is hard on tyres and racing is going to be tough because of the heat, but there’s a lot to look forward to.”
