Bayliss: 'Why not?' to WSB return

The whirlwind induction of three-time WSB Champion Troy Bayliss into the Aruba.it Ducati Racing Team after the injury of regular rider Davide Giugliano has been the only story in Superbike town at Phillip Island in the past day or so.

At nearly 46 years of age Bayliss enters the first round of the 2015 season, even though he has not ridden in anger in WSB since 2008. He is, however, more than ready to go, after offering his services to Ducati for his home round.

“In the end I have been talking with the guys anyway, because I was always coming done here and doing some stuff,” said Bayliss. “In the end, I said to the guys, “why not?” and then it went on from there.”

He has had an oft-stated desire to return to WSB but he is even more focused on helping out his home racing scene and giving the WSB fans in Australia a real treat on Sunday. “It was basically all about the people, and for the circuit with it being 25 years here. I thought it would be good for everybody concerned,” said Troy. “In the end it will be, but in the end it is just a matter of whether I can do a good job. Everything else is perfect, as long a I can do a good job, it is the icing on the cake.”
