Aragon WSB: Haslam powers to pole

Leon Haslam will start tomorrow’s WSB races from pole at the Aragon circuit after setting a blisteringly fast time of 1:49.664 in superpole onboard the Red Devils Roma Aprilia.

Haslam knocked fellow Brit Chaz Davies off the top spot late in the session, with nobody else able to come close to the Aprilia rider’s time. Kawasaki rider Tom Sykes was the third and final rider to dip under the 1min50secs barrier with a time of 1:49.863.

Syke’s team-mate Jonathan Rea will start from the front of the second row in fourth, ahead of Xavi Fores – riding in place of Troy Bayliss – and new BMW Italia rider Ayrton Badovini.

Alex Lowes snuck through into the final superpole session at the last minute onboard the Voltcom Crescent Suzuki and set the eighth fastest time in the final session.

Reigning World Champion Sylvain Guintoli was a surprise omission from Superpole 2 as the Honda rider was unable progress from Superpole 1. Guintoli will start from 14th on the grid.
