Bryan Staring making progress

In the first free practice at Laguna Seca the name Bryan Staring was well into the top ten positions in a field of 27 riders.

Staring admitted that it was only FP1 at that early stage but he put his recent improvements that led to a 17th place in Superpole to good work from rider and team and a return to confidence after his right arm and shoulder injury.

“It was only FP1 but we made a really big step last weekend in Portugal and we never really got to show it because we had a problem with a gear selector in the first race.

“But we were strong with most of the other Evo guys in the dry and in the wet in race two we should have been strong as well – but I think we had a mistake with the tyre pressure.”

Staring, a former Aussie champion, also thinks it is an improvement in bike set-up and himself that make him feel optimistic now for continued progress. “My feeling has been coming better all the time but we have not had the chance to show our potential.

“The biggest thing is that my confidence is growing again but before I did not have any. I just want to be sure that we can continue to make small steps like this and it then it would be all good.

“My shoulder is not holding me back on the bike but it is sore and fatigued at the end of the day. While I am riding it is not an issue.”
