As Frenchman Loris Baz heads to MotoGP in 2015, his more experienced compatriot Randy De Puniet joins the WSB fight with Suzuki, and has already come out punching.

Setting strong dry testing times on Wednesday at Jerez, he also rode with confidence and pace in the quite wet first day and the full wet of Thursday, before the Suzuki team ended its tests for the year.

“In the wet the feeling was immediately good on the first day and today we confirmed also,” said De Puniet. “In the dry we worked really well especially on Wednesday because we made a good step on the bike, I felt more comfortable, the lap time was good and I was consistent. I need to work again to improve the speed but already what we have is quite good.”

De Puniet’s flying start now needs to carry on with more improvements in dry conditions.

“Now I just have to try and improve my pace on a race tyre,” said De Puniet. “It is not bad and I am not worried. But I just need to continue because I need to understand more things about this bike, the tyres, I need to watch many Superbike races on video to see what I can do, and what I need to do, and who will be strong.”

De Puniet should recommence testing in 2015, at Portimao on 21 January, with his team-mate Alex Lowes.
