Lowes fastest in qualifying practice

The Friday, Supersport qualifying practice got underway at Donington for the European round of the FIM World Championship under grey, rain clouds and blustery, windy conditions.

With the track still wet but with the promise of dryer, warmer conditions for the remainder of the race weekend, Sam Lowes left it until the last 10mins before coming out onto a drying track to post the fastest time of the session (1’ 43.642).

Speaking to MCN immediately after the session Lowes was content with the little time that he had, “I did not want to go out early in the session when there was a lot of wind and standing water around the track. Friday is Friday but in the rain the bike is already there. From Assen and Monza we have not too bad a wet set-up and straight away it worked around here.

Hopefully tomorrow will be dry but whatever we get I am happy.”
