Portimao 2012

I went to Portimao, Portugal last September for my first WSB meeting. I was very excited to be seeing my hero Tom Sykes.

The first race was probably the best I have witnessed. After a huge crash involving quite a few riders Tom emerged as the race leader closely followed by Carlos Checa.

The atmosphere began to build in the grandstand with the horde of Checa fans behind me. Lap by lap Carlos was closing in on Tom but he managed to hold on and took the win. Every one of the Checa fans shook me by the hand and said it was a brilliant race.

I thought that was the pinnacle of the day but later on I managed to get my photo taken with Tom. A very special day for my first WSB meet – one I’ll never forget!
