Paddock pass debacle at Donington

Charging £30 for a paddock pass, Donington officials failed to man the paddock gate on Saturday. Indeed there was no paddock gate.

Spectators walked without sign or hindrance through the paddock and through the paddock tunnel to find themselves later trapped on the infield or faced with a very long walk back to their point of origin.

Eventually an angry standoff led to officials being pushed aside as those trapped (and angry) marched back through the paddock.

Powerless officials stood by repeating that rules were rules and their jobs were threatened if they had permitted the march through. Paddock gate keepers were later re-enforced by Donnington officials
