Lowes back to full fitness and leading the way at Misano

Sam Lowes proved he is back to full fitness and ready to challenge at the front of WSS once again by topping the timesheets in first qualifying at Misano toady.

The Parkalgar Honda rider set a best lap of 1.39.541 to move to provisional pole position after running in the top three throughout the 45minute session.

Speaking to MCN, he said: “It feels great to be back on the bike and feeling fit. My shoulder is aching a fair bit now and for sure it will hurt tonight but on the bike it feels good and it’s certainly not holding me back.

“I rode here back in 2008 but I still felt that I had to learn the circuit again this morning. The bike is working well, but we’ve still got room for improvement. I haven’t got the feeling with the front I want and I can’t get the bike stopped and on its side as quickly as I would like. The good think is we’ve got a lap time in the bag in case it rains and we can still make some changes tomorrow.”

Joint championship leader Chaz Davies finished second fastest despite suffering a crash on his final lap of the session. The ParkinGO Yamaha rider was also working on front end feeling and a revised setting to deal with the bumps which he felt had got worse since he rode the track last year.

The provisional front row was made up of Motocard Kawasaki men David Salom and Broc Parkes.

James Ellison qualified his Bogdanka Honda in tenth position while Gino Rea languished down in 16 place after experiencing more technical problems and a mid session crash onboard his Step Racing Honda.
