Silverstone set for World Superbikes

Silverstone Circuit is set to host the British round of the FIM Superbike World Championship on 29 – 31 July and with spectacular action and an exhilarating atmosphere guaranteed, the six British riders can expect plenty of home support.

The Brits put on a fantastic show in front of their home crowd last year, with all-British podiums and a double-victory for Cal Crutchlow in the two Superbike races. Expectations will be high for a repeat of last year’s success.

Castrol Honda’s Jonathan Rea is hoping to return from injury at Silverstone, however, fellow Brit Alex Lowes will continue in his place, should the Ulsterman fail to recover in time.

In addition to the World Superbike races on the Sunday there are a host of support races. The World Supersport Championship features a number of British riders, including Chaz Davies who will be looking to extend his lead at the top of the leader board. Davies will be joined by Sam Lowes, Gino Rea and James Ellison, who will all be out to impress in front of their home crowd. Meanwhile, Danny Buchan and Joshua Elliot will be competing in the Superstock 1000 and Superstock 600 races respectively. The European Junior Cup completes the line-up of on-track action.

Away from the track there is plentuy of entertainment for all the family, including stunt shows, aerial displays and funfair rides, manufacturer displays and trade stalls in the Arena Entertainment Zone.

On Thursday 28 July, Silverstone is providing fans with the opportunity to get up close and personal with the World Superbike riders at a free autograph session. Hosted in the Silverstone Wing Paddock, the ‘Paddock Show’ is open to anyone to attend, with or without a ticket for the race weekend (tickets required for Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The Paddock will be open to members of the public from 13:00hrs on the Thursday, with the ‘Paddock Show’ scheduled to run from 14:00hrs.

A free shuttle bus service will help fans get around the venue, while Silverstone TV (shown on three giant screens around the circuit) and Silverstone Radio will keep fans up-to-speed with all the on-track action.
