BMW have finally confirmed the first rider in their 2011 WSB squad by announcing that two time world champion Troy Corser has re-signed. Corser has been with the project since it’s birth in 2009 and has played a pivotal role in the development of the impressive S1000RR.

Corser said: “It was an easy decision for me to continue with a team where I feel at home. We’re really building something here and I’ve very much enjoyed being part of this project from the beginning. I think we’ve already achieved a great deal together and believe that, with our commitment and resources, we can climb further up the field over the course of the season ahead.”

It remains unclear who will partner Corser with BMW yet to confirm if they will run a two or three or even four man squad with a two man ‘A’ and two man ‘B’ team. British riders Leon Haslam and James Toseland remain linked to the ride but neither has been confirmed.

More news is expected before this weekend’s penultimate round of the World Superbike championship at Imola in Italy.
