WSB test Imola: Fabrizio from Haslam at end of first session

Less than 48 hours after securing a podium in Misano, Michel Fabrizio showed his pace around the Imola circuit to top the time sheets at the end of the first four hour long session today.

The factory Xerox Ducati rider posted a lap time of 1.48.670 around the 4.936KM circuit, a lap time 0.312 seconds faster than the 2009 lap record set by his team-mate Noriyuki Haga.

Leon Haslam was on the pace as soon as the track opened at 9am this morning to go second. His Alstare Suzuki team are working to resolve the engine braking problems that affected him in Misano.

Cal Crutchlow held second position before dropping to third on his factory Yamaha with his Yamaha team working on different weight distribution of the R1 in an effort to improve grip.

Double Misano race winner Max Biaggi made a late start to his day but by the end of the session was up to fourth and looking comfortable onboard his RSV4. Shane Byrne was another man on the pace finishing fifth ahead of Troy Corser riding the factory BMW in sixth.

It was the first time at the undulating Italian track for Sylvan Guintoli and Leon Camier who finished in 10th and 14th places respectively.

There is now a 90 minute lunch break with the second session beginning at 14.30 and finishing at 18.00 local time.
