The BMW Motorrad Italia team of James Toseland and Ayrton Badovini finally enjoyed some dry track time in Portimao toady where they begun their first shakedown test of their new S1000RR’s which the team finished building last week.

After missing the first morning of the test due to mud on the track following a heavy storm the team managed to get on track yesterday afternoon and enjoyed a full day today where they focussed on electronics, suspension and weight distribution.

Toseland said: “The package is good. The engine has strong power and we are working to improve the delivery. The bike ‘s strength is the chassis and the way it changes direction.

“We worked carefully on the set up of the suspension, weight distribution and the bike responds very well to changes we’ve been making.”

At time of writing no lap times were available and the team were still lapping the Portuguese circuit.
