Valencia WSB: Haslam takes race 1 victory, Toseland third

Team Suzuki Alstare rider Leon Haslam has taken victory in the first World Superbike race at this weekend’s Valencia round.

Fellow Brit and Yamaha Sterilgarda rider James Toseland placed third on the podium. He fought hard to hold off Aprilia Alitalia’s Max Biaggi, but the Italian passed Toseland in the later half of the race to claim second.

Fourth spot on the time sheets went to Aussie Troy Corser, riding an S1000RR for the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team. Ducati Xerox rider Noriyuki Haga finished in fifth.

Brits Jonathan Rea (Hannspreee Ten Kate Honda) and Cal Crutchlow (Yamaha Sterilgarda) finished in sixth and seventh respectively.
