WSB Nurburgring: Haga takes the fight to Spies in second qualifying

Noriyuki Haga showed that he is ready to take this year’s title fight down to the wire by out qualifying title rival Ben Spies in the final minutes of the hour long session.

Onboard his Xerox Ducati 1198, Haga looked loose and wild as he traded places with Yamaha man, Spies.

Third spot went to the ever impressive Michel Fabrizio, with Brit Jonathan Rea continuing his strong form from day one to end qualifying in fourth spot.

Fellow Brit Tom Sykes continued to impress in the dry conditions after qualifying second in the wet on day one. Sykes who could be riding for a job in 2010 looked smooth and aggressive and appears unfazed by the added pressure regarding his future.

Shane Byrne made it three Brits in the top six by finishing just 0.649 seconds off pole onboard his privateer Ducati.

Leon Haslam ran as high as second position but dropped to ninth at the finish with BMW stand in Richard Cooper in 26th spot.
