Monza WSB: Fabrizio wins superbike race 1

Italian Ducati Xerox rider Michel Fabrizio claimed victory in World Superbike race 1 after a massive crash led to the race being red flagged.

Fabrizio’s team mate Noriyuki Haga claimed second, making it a one-two for the Ducati Xerox squad.

On the final lap American Ben Spies was leading, but he had problems with his bike and dropped off the pace. Spies managed to nurse it over the finish line to take 15th.

Aprilia Racing rider Max Biaggi took third place onboard an Aprilia RSV Factory, followed by Ten Kate Honda rider Ryuichi Kiyonari in fourth.

The highest placing Brit was Jonathan Rea, who took sixth for the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team.
