Sofuoglu walks away from big crash

Kenan Sofuoglu was left nursing a battered right elbow after crashing his Hannspree Ten Kate Honda during the opening free practice session this morning.

Sofuoglu crashed at the fast turn two and looked to be in serious pain after picking himself up out of the gravel trap.

But the Turkish rider returned to the pits and promptly got on to his spare bike to go out on track and better his earlier lap time.

He finally ended the session with the third fastest time behind team-mate Andrew Pitt and Yamaha man Cal Crutchhlow.
Speaking to MCN Sofuoglu said:

“I had just put in a new set of tyres and compared to the used set I was on before they didn’t have as much feel. I went into turn two and lost the front.

“The problem was that as I was sliding I hit the kerb and hurt the inside of my elbow and my shoulder.

“I’ll put some ice on it now and I should be fine for qualifying this afternoon.”
