Brno WSB: Biaggi stays on top in second qualifying

Max Biaggi retained his position at the top of the leader board after second qualifying despite not improving on his day one lap time. Biaggi’s 1m59.982s lap from Friday afternoon was enough to hold off the ever improving Ben Spies in second place who finished just 0.061 seconds behind the Italian Aprilia rider.

Local man Jacob Smrz gave his allegiance of Czech fans something to shout about by jumping up on to the front row ahead of factory Ducati man Michel Fabrizio in fourth.
Spaniard Carlos Checa slipped of his day one provisional front row start to fifth but showed impressive consistency throughout the session.

Britain’s Shane Byrne was a big improver onboard his Sterilgarda Ducati. The Reigning BSB champion is just 0.373 seconds off pole having slashed 0.7 seconds off his day one time.
Tom Sykes was another big improver having jumped up to eighth in what could be a critical weekend for next years negotiations.

Jonathan Rea continued to get himself dialled in to the Brno circuit, ending the session in 12th with Leon Haslam 15th.

The top 18 riders in qualifying were separated buy just 1.080 seconds.
