WSB Test Imola: Session red flagged after Neukirchner crash

1 of 1

The opening WSB test session has been red flagged after Max Neukirchner crashed his Alstare Suzuki on the approach to Tam corner. The young German was making his return to WSB having been side lined for ten weeks following the horrific first corner crash at Monza in May. In the Monza crash, Neukirchner broke his right Femur, ankle and foot which required rods, pins and wires to repair.

Neukirchner was stretched off the circuit and was fitted with a neck brace, but initial reports from the medical centre suggest that he is basically ok, but will undergo further checks on his lower back. There are no reports that he has aggravated any of his existing injuries.
The 26 year was philosophical about the crash but is undecided whether he will go back out on track again today.

He said: “I’m fine, just bruised. This was a real crash though, better than the one in Monza!”

The session restarted at 10.45am local time. At time of writing Michel Fabrizio led the way ahead of Jonathan Rea, Shane Byrne and Ben Spies.
