World Supersport man Craig Jones has been honoured with a memorial tree and bench on the Greenbank estate where he grew up.

The 23 year old died following a crash at Brands Hatch in August 2008 whilst fighting for the lead.

Jones was regarded as one of the UK’s brightest racing prospects and was one of the most popular charecters in the WSB paddock thanks to his endless enthusiasm and lust for life.

Jones went to Hartford High School and Mid-Cheshire College. Local police and the borough council wanted a lasting tribute to the fallen star to inspire youngsters in the area.

Police Community Support Officer Barbara Billington said: “Craig was very well thought of, and part of the reason we want to do this is that we wanted to show that anyone, regardless of background, can succeed if they are determined and motivated,”
