WSS Valencia - Crutchlow Hot, Laverty Cruises, in First Session

Spaniard Joan Lascorz benefited from a recent test session on the Valencia circuit to record fastest time in the first World Supersport practice session on his Kawasaki ZX-6R.

His best lap of 1m 36.672s was 0.671s faster than his closest pursuer, Britain’s Cal Crutchlow, who also tested his Yamaha R6 on the 14-corner circuit in the last few days. Third at the previous round in Qatar, and fourth in the championship, Crutchlow will be eager for another podium in Sunday’s race.

Championship leader Andrew Pitt (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) was tenth fastest. Ireland’s Eugene Laverty, who won in Qatar on his Parkalgar Honda, took it easy on hard tyres and lapped in 1m 38.577s, nearly two seconds slower than Lascorz.

“We were just gathering data,” team manager Simon Buckmaster said. “In Qatar Eugene was also 14th in the opening session. He was just settling in today.”
