Magny Cours WSB: Troy Bayliss wins race two

1 of 1

Newly-crowned World Superbike champion Troy Bayliss has taken the win in race two at Magny Cours.

Bayliss again took the lead from the start, but as in the first race, Haga took the lead on the first lap and tried to pull away.

Fonsi Nieto was running in third place behind Bayliss, but veterans Carlos Checa and Troy Corser soon got the better of the Suzuki rider. On lap five Corser passed Checa to move up in to third spot.

On lap eight the rain flag came out at several places around the circuit. Bayliss and Corser took advantage of the flag and passed Haga as he slowed down.

The rain, however stayed away and Haga was soon back on the pace and soon passed Corser and Bayliss to claim back his race lead.

Corser attempted to get the better of his team-mate Haga on lap 12 but ran wide, almost gifting third place to Carlos Checa.

Team-mates Max Biaggi and Ruben Xaus enjoyed a battle for fifth place throughout the majority of the race, which saw Xaus take fifth ahead of Biaggi.

Bayliss was desperate to get past Haga for the lead and on lap 14 had a massive moment at the final chicane as he ran over the rumble strips and caught his foot on the ground.

Bayliss was not to be stopped, and on the penultimate lap made a pass on Haga stick. Haga was unable to respond as Bayliss put the hammer down to open up a lead which saw him take his 50th World Superbike win.
