GSE Racing Team Manager Colin Wright told MCN it’s going to be a battle against the clock to get ready for the 2009 season following the team’s recent visit to the Factory Yamaha World Superbike team’s headquarters near Monza.

Wright and his two Race Engineers, Frankie Carchedi and Luca Ferracciolo, spent three days at the Yamaha Motor Italia workshop in Italy to get their first taste of the 2009 Yamaha R1.

GSE will be campaigning with Yamaha’s for the first time in 2009, and as part of a factory deal will have a close relation with the official World Superbike squad lead by Massimo Meregalli.

“We spent three days out there, and it rained for all three days,” Wright told MCN.

“Their workshop is a superb facility and they’re all really nice guys.

“It’s definitely going to be an interesting project with the new Yamaha, and we learnt a lot while we were out there.”

GSE are expecting an imminent delivery of the 2009 Yamaha R1, and Wright added that he and the rest of GSE Racing couldn’t wait to get their teeth into it.

“We all just want to get on with it now and start working on the bikes.

“It’s all going to come down to time from now until the start of the season, but we’ll be alright.”
