Phillip Island World Supersport: Pitt fastest as Rea goes fifth
Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider Andrew Pitt continued his strong weekend performance to take pole position for Sundays 21 lap World Supersport race at Phillip Island.
The 32 year old Australian has now been fastest in three out of the four sessions and is focussed on nothing less than a win at his home track after scoring no points in Qatar last weekend.
Fellow Australian Josh Brookes ended up second after another strong performance followed by the two factory Yamaha men Broc Parkes and Fabien Foret.
Jonathan Rea took the accolade of top Brit with a strong performance that looked good enough for a front row start until he was bumped back to fifth by Foret.
Sixth spot went to the second Stiggy Honda rider Robin Harms who benefited from a tow from his team-mate Josh Brookes.
Craig Jones claimed 12th and a third row start after struggling to set a single quick lap. Jones remains confident of a good result in the race due to his consistent race pace and trademark strong final laps when the tyres go off.
Chris walker dug deep to overcome front grip and chatter problems to secure his place on the fourth row, whilst Graeme Gowland continued to progress up his steep learning curve and ended up in 20th out of the 36 strong grid.
