Phillip Island World Supersport: Local man Brookes sets the pace

Brookes is a former winner but is yet to show his potential as a full time rider
Stiggy Honda rider Josh Brookes led the second 45 minute World Supersport Free Practice session from start to finish with a lap time half a second faster than his closet rival.
Brookes, a former WSS winner at Phillip Island when he rode as a wild card in 2004, is yet to show his potential as a full time championship contender but will be looking to change all that this weekend.
Second place finisher in Qatar last weekend, Joan Lascorz showed his pace once again to set the second fastest time, with championship leader Broc Parkes in third onboard his Yamaha. David Salom made it two Spaniards in the top four with Fabien Foret in fifth.
Ivan Clementi was the first Triumph rider home ahead of a struggling Jonathan Rea in seventh.
Fellow Brit Craig Jones continued to have set-up problems and ended the session down in 15th, with Chris Walker in 20th and Graeme Gowland in 23rd.
