USA World Superbikes: Carlos Checa on pole at Miller

Carlos Checa claimed his first pole position of his World Superbike career with a blistering 1min 48.193sec lap at the Miller Motorsports Park this afternoon.

The Spanish Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider has been fast consistently fast on race tyres and apart from a crash during this mornings qualifying session has so far had a near perfect weekend.

Monza race one winner Max Neukirchner turned around his poor performance from yesterday to go second fastest onboard his Alstare Suzuki with current championship leader Troy Bayliss in third.

Michel Fabrizio continued his impressive form at the American track to take fourth and round of the front row of the grid onboard his Xerox Ducati.

Troy Corser was unable to capitalise on the extra grip from his qualifying tyres and dropped to fifth after going into Superpole first.

Ruben Xaus looked brutal during his Superpole lap and man handled his Sterilgarda Ducati to sixth place.

The most impressive ride of the day has to be Noriyuki Haga who shrugged off the pain of his broken collarbone to set the tenth fastest time of the day and his fastest time of the weekend.

The Japanese Yamaha rider has every intention of riding in tomorrows two 21 lap races.
