An all-new American Ducati team named Boulder Motorsports have announced their intention to race in the World Superbike Championship in 2009.

Team representatives were at the Miller Motorsports Park round of the WSB series last weekend having previously travelled to the Monza round of the championship at the beginning of May.

Speaking to MCN Boulder Motorsports Chad Kemmerlin confirmed that the team will be relocating to Italy in the coming months where they will be setting up a new workshop in preparation for the 2009 season.

Kemmerlin said:
“We’ve ordered bikes from Ducati, four 1098 RS’s and it is our aim to run one American rider and one non American in next years championship. We’ve also spoken to FG Sports Paolo Ciabatti regarding a grid allocation.”

MCN spoke with Ciabatti who confirmed Boulder Motorsports approach and made it clear that it is a pre-requisite for the team to run one American rider.

The WSB series has been without a top flight American for a number of years and with the series returning to the states this year and for the foreseeable future it remains a priority for the organisers to have a top American back in the championship.
