Misano World Supersport: Broc Parkes sets the pace, Jonathan Rea third

The Yamaha pairing of Broc Parkes and Fabien Foret set the pace in this morning’s opening free practice session at Misano.

Parkes and Foret were the only men to lap in the 1min 40sec bracket around the slightly revised Italian track.

The most impressive performance of the session went to Britain’s Jonathan Rea who set the third fastest time despite it being his first ever ride at the track.

Hoegee Suzuki rider Barry Veneman made a strong start to his weekend in fourth with local man Massimo Roccoli onboard his Yamaha in fifth.

Craig Jones sights Misano as one of his favourite tracks, but made a slow start to his weekend and ended the opening session down in 11th spot, one place head of the injured Garry McCoy on the SC Triumph.

Championship leader Andrew Pitt won his first ever WSB race at Misano in 2006, but ended the first session down in 17th spot 1.6 seconds off pole.

Graeme Gowland claimed 31st place with Chris Walker in 33rd.

First qualifying takes place at 13.45 CET
