Brno World Superbikes: Craig Jones on front row pace again in first qualifying

Broc Parkes annihilated the Brno track record with a blistering 2,03.604s lap to set provisional pole position for Sundays World Supersport race.

The Yamaha man was the first rider to dip in to the 2m03s bracket and at one point enjoyed nearly a full second advantage until title rivals Josh Brooks, Andrew Pitt and Craig Jones all climbed to within 0.6 seconds of the Australian.

Jones made a slow start to the session but upped his pace dramatically to take fourth spot onboard his Parkalgar Honda.

Triumph mounted Mark Aitchison impressed onboard the 675cc triple to secure fifth ahead of Hoegee Suzuki rider Barry Veneman in sixth.

Jonathan Rea showed just how fast he has been able to adapt to the new circuit by securing the seventh fastest time 1.018s behind pole man, Parkes.

Garry McCoy got just a handful of flying laps on his SC Triumph but made them count jumping from 32nd to 21st to 16th to 11th and finally tenth spot.

Parkes’ team-mate Fabien Foret suffered a heavy crash in the final minutes of the session and from the circuit camera’s appeared unconscious. The Frenchman is currently in the medical centre being treated for concussion.
