Brands Hatch World Superbikes: Ryuichi Kiyonari does the double

Hannspree Honda rider Ryuichi Kiyonari has taken his first WSB double at Brands Hatch.

Xerox Ducati rider Troy Bayliss led at the beginning of the race, but Noriyuki Haga had caught him by lap six and was in the lead.

From there Troy Bayliss went backwards, eventually finishing the second race in a disappointing 11th onboard his facory Ducati 1098, five places behind his team-mate Michel Fabrizio.

By lap seven reigning BSB champion Ryuichi Kiyonari was up to second behind fellow countryman and factory Yamaha rider Noriyuki Haga.

Rizla Suzuki BSB rider Tom Sykes had a great race, moving up to fourth in front of Troy Bayliss on lap 16, but he was unable to hold off the charging riders behind him.

Sykes eventually finished an impressive seventh, ahead of Hannspree Ten Kate Honda rider Carlos Checa.

Haga and Kiyo then broke away from the rest of the riders to fight it out for the top spot.

After some very brave overtaking from both riders, Kiyonari managed to hold an overtake on lap 11 and Haga was unable to regain the lead.

Max Neukirchner had a late charge, passing Bayliss, Sykes and Fabrizio to finish fourth behind Troy Corser.
