Lausitzring World Superbikes: Troy Bayliss back at the top again

Troy Bayliss topped the timesheets again this afternoon in the first qualifying session
Xerox Ducati’s Troy Bayliss made his domination of the opening day at the Lausitzring complete by setting the fastest lap in first qualifying and dipping below his own lap record in the process.
Bayliss was clearly enjoying the cooler track temperatures which suits his Xerox Ducati 999F07 and after running in the top five upped the pace in the dying minutes to set a time of 1m 38.569secs.
Troy Bayliss’ time relegated long time leader Troy Corser from top spot who dropped to second place onboard the Yamaha Italia R1.
Third place went to last year’s race one winner Yukio Kagayama onboard the Alstare Suzuki GSXR1000R.
Fellow Japanese rider and friend Yamaha’s Nori Haga claimed fourth to finish one place ahead of his championship rival Hannspree Ten Kate Honda’s James Toseland in fifth.
Spaniard Ruben Xaus took sixth spot with the ever improving Max Biaggi jumping up from 13th to seventh place after taking 1.5 seconds off this morning’s free practice lap time.
Second qualifying takes place tomorrow morning at 11am (local time) before the top 16 men fight it out in Superpole at 4pm where the final grid will be decided.
