Corser fit despite dislocation

Troy Corser believes he will be fighting fit for this weekend Monza WSB race despite discovering that he dislocated his hip at Assen two weeks ago.

Corser crashed out spectacularly of an almost certain podium finish in the first race at the Dutch track after a water hose came detached, which led to water spilling on to the rear wheel.

Despite the injury the tough Aussie claimed a gutsy fourth place finish in race two.

Since the crash Corser has been recuperating at his home in the UK and although he’s still in some pain, he believes he is ready for Monza.

He said: “I saw a specialist sports physiotherapist and from the damage and bruising he thinks I might have actually dislocated it in the Assen crash, but it popped straight back into place.

“Most of the pain and bruising has actually been around my pelvis and now even though it’s still sore to touch I’ve got full movement back.

“I had to rest up for a couple of days but since then I’ve been able to get about and do some upper body training.”

Although Monza is the Yamaha Italia teams home track, with the workshop based less than a mile from the circuit, the 35-year-old has never ridden the R1 at the historic venue.

He said: “I find that at tracks where I’ve not ridden the Yamaha it takes pretty much the first day to get dialled in and feel comfortable after spending two years on the Suzuki.

“I like the layout at Monza the bikes working well so it’s all good.

“The Yamaha is as fast as anything  although I think the Honda might just have the legs on us. It’s not like the start of the year when they had a big advantage, it’s a lot closer now so we ‘re in good shape.”
