Jones privisionally heads second row

Craig Jones has mimicked his good form from this mornings WSS free practice session by ending the first Qualifying session provisionally from fifth.

The rain has held off at Donington since this morning’s light showers, enabling the riders to make the most of a few dry lines.

Jones set a time of 1.42.47, evidently quicker than this morning thanks to the drying track.
This is the first time Jones has competed on the new 2007 CBR600RR after testing the bike at Snetterton last week at the official BSB test.

“The track temperature is really cold,” said Jones.

“There’s not a lot of grip out there but everyone is in the same boat. But the new bike definitely feels good.”

Mattieu Lagrive took provisional pole riding for Czech based Intermoto Honda after gambling on a set of dry tyres at the end of the session.

Davide Giuliano maintained his impressive performance from this morning, provisionally putting his Kawasaki second on the grid in front of current championship leader Kenan Sofuoglu.

The young Turk will be looking to extend his championship lead after three of his closest title contenders, Sebastian Charpentier, Broc Parkes and Kevin Curtain all suffered injuries in crashes this morning.
