Brno World Superbikes: Kenan Sofuoglu goes provisional pole for World Supersport

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda’s Kenan Sofuoglu has recorded provisional pole position for Sunday’s World Supersport after going quickest in the first qualifying session at Brno. 

The Turkish rider actually went 0.2secs slower than his best time this morning, but it was enough to top the timesheets, despite a scare when he came off on a quick lap. But he seemed unhurt and returned to the garages to set out again on his spare motorcycle.

Sebastien Charpentier will have received a massive confidence boost with his second place at the track where he had a massive crash and broke his pelvis last year. The Frenchman recorded a best time of 2:06.062 on his Honda CBR600RR.

Robbin Harms was third fastest to make a top three for the CBR600RR’s. His best lap was a 2:06.447.

Britain’s Craig Jones has continued his good qualifying form to go fifth fastest and a potential second row start.

The Honda rider’s best time was a 2:06.567, which was 0.3secs quicker than his best time this morning as he looks to continue on the successful test at Vellelunga two weekends ago.

Another man who went well in Vallelunga, Josh Brookes, has not gone so well today in Brno. The Australian only managed a best of 2:07.613 down in 16th place.
