WSB test in Phillip Island

The battle for WSB primacy continues this week with the worlds top Superbike riders lining up for the third official Pirelli test at Phillip Island in Australia. Championship favourites Troy Bayliss, Troy Corser, Max Biaggi, Noriyuki Haga and James Toseland will be on track together for the last time before the championship kicks off in Qatar in less than six weeks time and each man has a point to prove.

If the previous two official tests at Valencia and Qatar are anything to go by then Phillip Island should be something special with some blistering lap times on the cards at the Australian circuit.

In the first official test held at Valencia in November, Max Biaggi stunned the WSB regulars by topping the time sheets with a blistering lap right at the end of the final day to show the world that he’s taking his new WSB career very seriously indeed.

In the second test in Qatar at the end of December, reigning Champion Troy Bayliss reminded everyone who’s boos by dominating all three days ahead of a resurgent Troy Corser onboard the 2007 spec Yamaha R1.

Due to time constraints and the fact that the bikes were shipped directly from Qatar to Phillip Island teams and riders will be starting the three day test with the same equipment as they finished off last months test.
