Toseland wins race two

James Toseland has won the second race at the Losail circuit in Qatar after a near faultless ride.

Early on, the same group of four as race one consisting of Toseland, Biaggi, Haga and Corser made the break at the front with Kawasaki’s Fonsi Nieto clinging behind in fifth after a lightning start.

Toseland lapped consistently at the front while Haga, Corser and Biaggi roughed each other up for the second spot.

Once Biaggi beat the Yamaha pair in the battle for the runners-up spot, he focussed his attention on closing on JT.

But after a nervous final two laps trying to hold off a determined bid from Biaggi to close the gap, Toseland crossed the line just under a second in front of the WSB newcomer.

Toseland made no changes to his bike between the two races. However Max Biaggi did make a slight adjustment which he later regretted after admitting to losing some feel from the bike.

Corser took the third spot after his team-mate Haga faded with the same tyre problems that haunted the Yamaha pair in race one.

Fonsi Nieto rounded off an impressive performance by fending off Yukio Kagayama and Lorenzo Lanzi, while defending champion Troy Bayliss only managed eight position after making a mistake mid-race and dropping back.

Bayliss has struggled all weekend with setup and these problems lead to him making more mistakes in race two and losing a lot of time.

Dean Ellison couldn’t manage the same point scoring feat as he did in race one, crossing the line in 19th.
