Corser on Pole

1 of 1

Troy Corser has just snatched pole position for the first round of the World Superbike championship, ahead of Max Biaggi and James Toseland.

With more Superpole wins than any other rider in the series’ history, it’s little surprise that Corser has set the benchmark today in Qatar, despite being on a new bike and with a new team.

Pre-event favourite Troy Bayliss had a poor lap by his standards, ending the session in sixth a distant 1.26s off Corser’s best.

It had looked like Biaggi might take a shock debut pole after his best lap was 0.9s clear of anyone else, prior to Corser’s lap.

More to come.
