Brands Hatch World Superbikes: James Toseland welcomes his fans

Britain’s James Toseland took a moment to take in the atmosphere at Brands Hatch this morning as thousands of fans cheered him around the circuit in warm up.

He spent his first lap waving to the thousands of fans who have turned out to see him in what is likely to be his last Brands Hatch event for some time with his 2008 MotoGP move.

Ducati’s Troy Bayliss was the fastest rider in warm up ahead of Hannspree Ten Kate Honda’s James Toseland.

The Australian completed 13 laps of the Kent circuit in the 20 minute session, with his best time at 1:26.174. This was half a second off Troy Bayliss’ superpole time, which put him on the front of the grid for this afternoon’s two races.

James Toseland’s best lap was a 1:26.324 with Team Sterilgarda’s Ruben Xaus third on his Ducati with a 1:26.779.

Britain’s second rider, Dean Ellison, was 19th with a best of 1:29.853.

Temperatures are already building at the Kent circuit with thousands of race fans lining the banks ahead of the start of the day’s races.
