Hannspree Ten Kate Honda’s James Toseland reckons Troy Bayliss’ comments in MCN saying that spoiling the party for James Toseland at Brands Hatch is his goal have only fired up the 26-year-old Brit to do the double.

In last week’s MCN, WSB preview supplement Bayliss said: “James wants to win in front of his home crowd and I want to go along and spoil the party. I’d probably like to spoil the party more than win there.”

Far from being riled by Ducati rider Troy Bayliss’ quote, James Toseland laughed off the comments of one of his  biggest and most respected rivals.

He said: “I like Troy and I can see him saying that now. He wants to win this world championship and to do that he’s got to beat me around Brands Hatch.

“As an Australian for him to come and beat me and spoil the party has to be his aim. It doesn’t offend me at all, but when I read the part where he said spoiling the party is more important then winning it I just thought well if you’re going to spoil the party you’re going to have to win it.

“I can understand why he said that, I went to Australia wanting to beat him so badly so that I could say I’ve beaten Troy Bayliss at Phillip Island because that is no easy feat.”
