WSB testing update

1 of 1

Day two of the Valencia World Superbike test sees Yamaha making big steps already with their new-for-07 R1.

Yesterday, Noriyuki Haga and new team-mate Troy Corser rode a 2006 and 2007 bike each at the test, with the new ’07 machine recording lap times about 1s down on the outgoing bike.

But halfway through day two, and the pair are solely on the all-new ’07 bike, which is now just as fast as the old machine. This is despite being fresh from the crate in development terms.

Encouragingly for Yamaha, Haga says the new bike’s engine is already just as powerful as the ’06 bike, even though it is “at stage one” of its long development cycle.

So far no-one is bettering their lap times from yesterday.
