Lanzi - like a new rider

Ducati World Superbike team boss Davide Tardozzi has revealed the transformation in form of under-fire star Lorenzo Lanzi in the major winter test held at Valencia this week is just like signing a new rider.

Lanzi disappointed in WSB last season as Troy Bayliss’ works Xerox Ducati team-mate, and was in doubt to be re-signed until only two weeks ago.

But he stormed the timesheets at Valencia and finished second only to Max Biaggi at the test.

Tardozzi explained: “It is like having a new rider in the team. Before we only had one fast rider and that was Troy, now it seems that I have two.

“I class this test as the start of the 2007 season and Lanzi’s approach and attitude has changed; now it is very good and he was very fast.”
