Toseland on prov. pole

1 of 1

James Toseland has topped the first qualifying session for the Brno round of the World Superbike championship.

The former world champion took his Honda Fireblade to a new fastest lap of the circuit at 2:02.349, beating the previous best lap of 2:02.694 set by Troy Corser at the circuit last year.

Fonsi Nieto took a surprise second fastest time on his PSG-1 Kawasaki followed by the works Ducati of Lorenzo Lanzi and the Yamaha R1 of Noriyuki Haga.

Toseland’s team-mate Karl Muggeridge beat morning-session leader Yukio Kagayama to the fifth fastest time with Michel Fabrizio and Brit Chris Walker in seventh and eighth.

Tory Bayliss struggled on the first day finishing the session in 11th behind the Foggy Petronas of Steve Martin after a sudden shower at the end of the session prevented anyone from putting in any last minute fast laps.
