Brits at German 24hrs

1 of 1

The British Yamaha Phase One team took third, with fellow Brits Diablo 666 finishing sixth at the Oschersleben 24 Hours round of the 2006 World Endurance Championship.

The race was won by the Suzuki Castrol team, despite drama in the the final hour as the petrol tank had to be replaced after a fuel leak was spotted. The swap cost just one lap, and still left them three laps ahead of the Yamaha Austria squad.

Both the Phase One and Diablo teams were running the top five for the first round of pitstops, with the Diablo team up to fourth on the Kawasaki. It was only in the fifth and sixth hours that the Phase One Yamaha squad fielded fastest riders Warwick Nowland and Damian Cudlin that they moved up to second, taking advantage of Yamaha Austria changing a fuel pump.

As Suzuki Castrol extended their lead with minimal time in the pits, Yamaha Austria regained second from Phase One, and with the Diablo squad losing out to sister team Kawasaki Bolliger.

With just an hour to go the Diablo squad are just 30 seconds ahead of the Acropolis Zone Rouge 99 Yamaha team, who eventually pass to finish in fifth.
